Flames Shut Down Scranton Tavern
SCRANTON — Fire damaged a business in Lackawanna County Friday morning.
Flames started around 9:30 a.m. at Heil’s Place on Wheeler Avenue in Scranton.
Authorities said a worker using a heat gun trying to thaw frozen pipes set fire to wood and insulation.
Firefighters said they put the fire out quickly but the building has a lot of smoke damage.
Because smoke damaged some food and alcohol, a city inspector said the place must remain close until the clean-up is complete. There is no word how long that will take.
