Troubled Bar in Scranton
News

There is new information about how many times Scranton police have been called to a bar on the city's southside.

Thursday's double stabbing brought 14 cops to the bar at 1608 Cedar Avenue, the address of Finn McCool's.

Police charged a 21-year-old New York native, who moved into the neighborhood with stabbing two men inside the bar.

Records show the stabbing to be just the latest incident needing police attention.

Since January 2010, records show police were called to the bar 145 times, that's about a call every four days.

On 20 occasions police were called to break up fights.

Three times they were called to investigate stabbings. Three other times they were called on a report of weapons at the scene including one time, when shots were fired.

Police also responded to calls to deal with drunken individuals, drugs, and liquor violations

The more serious calls required police to send between 10-18 officers. The majority of their on-duty staff. This shows the strain it creates on city resources.

Finn McCool's reopened Friday afternoon for the first time since the most recent stabbing. The owner did not want to comment.
